Baloji

Polymath artist Baloji was born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and grew up in Belgium. Baloji continually defies categorization, bringing his passion and hybrid approach to his various creative projects. His surreal short film, Zombies, confronts zombie culture and shared isolation with tribal motifs, exploring the stupefying effects of mobile technology. Baloji wrote, art-directed, and styled the film and it features two tracks from his most recent album, 137 Avenue Kaniama. Zombies won numerous awards and selection at the London Film Festival, was chosen as Short of the Year by MUBI, and won Best Styling at the UKMVAs. Baloji was also selected as Creative of the Year by NOWNESS.

His first feature film, Augure, was selected in the Un Certain Regard category and premiered at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival where it won the Prix de la Nouvelle Voix. Augure won more than 25 awards worldwide and was in the Oscar race for Best Foreign Picture. The soundtrack, created by Baloji is exploring the perspective of the four characters of the film and gave birth to the video 'Infinite Trolling,' premiered on Nowness. Baloji is the co-president of La Caméra d'Or at Cannes 2024.
